Out of character is fine with an artist; they need to try different styles sometimes. You should see my South Park fanart adaptations, for example, in comparison to my photography and writing. By the way, I recently purchased a book containing Bosch's complete works. He was quite a guy, wasn't he? I heard a rumor that he was on shrooms when he painted his monsters and demons.
